Topic 4: Mission/Vision Statements, Objectives & Benchmarks

1. Mission:

Advance capacity of Colorado cities and counties to develop and implement aggressive climate change initiatives thus ensuring security and economic prosperity.

Comments from the launch event:

  • Build coalition of communities that can lobby together for change/ more renewables
  • How do these efforts build on/ compliment any existing, struggling efforts: this is hard work, we need to make sure we don’t make it harder

2. Vision:

The Compact ensures that Colorado communities are sustainable, prosperous and responsible through accelerated capacity building, alignment of resources and interests, and public engagement on climate change action.

3. The Compact will enable its members to:

  • Provide support to member communities in taking action locally;

  • Deliver visible community improvement projects to improve the quality of life;

  • Spur economic development through clean energy and preparedness programs;

  • Facilitate flow of funding from State/Federal agencies to city and county programs; and

  • Secure funding and technical support for member projects.
